Solo: A Star Wars Story

When this movie first started, I didn’t think I was going to like it. In the early scenes, it felt like everyone was trying too hard and not succeeding. But as the movie went on, Alden Ehrenreich as Han Solo grew on me. My friend Liz said that he might not be a great Han Solo but he does a great Harrison Ford impersonation. That feels exactly right to me. He was cocky but charming. The only thing I’d seen Ehrenreich in before was Hail, Caesar! which I liked pretty well and thought he was really good in. I thought the acting was quite good, especially Emilia Clarke, Woody Harrelson, Donald Glover, and Thandie Newton. But my favorite part was Phoebe Waller-Bridge as L3-37, a droid who sparks an uprising and who has most of the best lines of the movie. (Waller-Bridge is the force behind Killing Eve, my favorite TV show of the year so far.) I also liked the filling in of the backstory of Han Solo, the Millennial Falcon, and Chewbacca. Definitely worth seeing.
